Care In Education

 Care in education is to show unconditional support to all students regardless of ethnic background, gender and sexual identify. When we talk about care in education many people think is just to be there physically and teach but care in education is more than just being physically present. Care in education is to constantly look/search for ways to make students feel accepted and wanted. Allow your students to make mistakes and be there as a support system rather than just to critique.  Reading Sonia Nieto's article allowed me to see Care as powerful tool in the classroom. Caring isn't simply to care. Care is demonstrated through  action. 

Ginwright And Cammarota

 In your own words, describe Ginwright + Cammarota’s critique of Positive Youth Development. Do you agree? Why or why not? They both believe that youth development is necessary but according  to them positive youth development is limited because the strategy used by positive youth development to promote youth assets is risking serious impact in social, economic and political influences in the lives of urban youth. They also believe that Positive youth development is based on white middle-class concept of youth. Yes I agree with Ginwright and Cammarota´s critique because I think Youth should be enforced to look more in social aspect of life because it influences them the most specially if they are minorities. Gaining more knowledge about social Justice is a form of freedom because you become more in control. How is Social Justice YDEV different? social justice if different because it gives us the opportunity to look beyond the problem and asset assumptions about youth behavior....

Youth work and Ideology

 ´´ Risk, Resilience and Prevention focuses on identifying problems with children and adolescents and intervening with education.¨ Education is the key to many problems among youth. ¨Through investigating social issues from an intersectional perspective, young people, alongside adults, work to transform themselves and society by developing critical consciousness and engaging in social action.¨ Allowing youth to work among adults is a great strategy to get them involved in social action. This also teaches them responsibility, social skills and empathy. ¨While our program is rooted in a Social Justice Youth Development ideology, it is not our goal to convert students into this belief system.¨ Youth Development ideology can change based on youth worker interest. For example I´m very interested in social justice aspect of youth Development but I´m also interested in Civic youth Development.
