Identity
I identify myself as a strong and opened mind woman. Yes I am adventures which sometimes causes me to make risky decision. This is who I am not just in my personal life but also in my career. I was once told by a friend " you are who you are because of the decisions you make" this quote stuck to me because I have always been headstrong woman. Nevertheless this has contributed to many opportunities in youth spaces. In these spaces I'm known as black females, who is compassionate, dedicated and caring. My identity is affirmed through action. I believe that identity is not to be told but demonstrated through action specially in youth spaces.
Listening to the TED talk by Jamila Lyiscott I was very interested in the way she explained silencing students of color. She made me question our educational system which allows racism to happen within our classroom. As a black female I have not experience this throughout my education journey but I'm curious to learn more about this concept that's affecting many in our schools.
Hi Sonia, I agree with you, identity has a lot to do with our, behavior, actions as well as the decisions we make throughout our lives. I'm glad you are a strong woman, we all need to be stronger than weak to defend ourselves. Nice post!
